The Cowra Lick Feeder manufactured by
Lachlan Steel Fabrications in Cowra has proven to be a real winner
for producers who are grain finishing lambs.
The feeder eliminates waste completely, and avoids the trauma
associated with trailing feed on the ground, resulting in a dramatic
reduction in losses among lambs. The feeder also reduces the problem
of disease caused by dust inhalation, an increasingly common cause
of carcase rejection in abattoirs.
Ewes no longer leave their lambs to chase the truck, shy stock get
ample opportunity to feed in a relaxed atmosphere, and of course
there is a considerable saving in time for the producer.
The Lick Feeder is suitable for feeding sheep nuts, meal and
hammermill mix as well as straight grain.
A kick rail prevents lambs pawing at the feeder and will help
prevent the spread of disease.
The new Lick Feeder was judged as the winner of the regional judging
in The Land Inventor of the Year contest at the Australian National
Field Days in 1996, and is now sold extensively throughout NSW and
Victoria.
Settings are easily adjusted, even when feeder is full.
No grain is left on the ground as with traditional feeding methods.
Trials have shown that on pasture, sheep spend about 10 per cent of
their feeding time at the feeder.
Sheep do not spend long periods at the feeder but come and go
throughout the day, resulting in the feeder being able to
accommodate greater numbers of sheep than traditional feeders.
Intake can be regulated down to a quarter of what would be otherwise
eaten if unrestricted.
Lachlan Steel Fabrications offer a money back guarantee with the
feeder, unless you are 100% satisfied with the results. |
